I promised I'd tell you a little about upcoming releases...
If you knew just how many drafts of how many different projects I have in the pipeline right now, you'd try to slap some sense into me.
But I'm perilously close to finishing my next novel. I'll be putting the wraps on Legion: A Tale of Western Horror by the end of this month.
The spires rose from the shortgrass without warning, the leavings of an ancient seabed, pale towers carved by wind and rain over the eons. The chalk bluffs stood seventy feet tall, weathered and worn. Crooked like broken teeth, and beautiful in the way bleached bone is beautiful. The structurally elegant remains of a thing that had died.
That's where US Marshal Jim Harper and his deputies found their man.
At the Monuments. With dusk fast approaching, the sun dipping in the west and the stones taking on the colors of the sky. Amber at the edges bleeding to a deep bruised rose.
They'd found his horse the day before. Ten miles to the west. Dead on the ground. Ridden until the poor thing dropped. Three dozen buzzards picking at the eyes and the bloated abdomen, feasting while possible, knowing with night the wolves would arrive and steal what remained.
That's the first couple of paragraphs. I'll talk a little more about it next week and hopefully give you a release date.
